The joys of home sales.
Okay, so Monday night our home buyers came over with a contract that was completed, and with earnest money, but wanted to see the survey of our house to make sure our lot was what we said it was. We had said 23.5 x 100, but it turns out it's 23 x 100. So, we were wrong...that was our bad.
But, apparently that six inches makes a difference? So, I xerox the survey and bring it to them, and they said they are going to look into some things and let us know Thursday night.
So, of course they don't call...but they finally called this afternoon, and left a message, saying that it's a deal and they'll take it.
So, I call back to ask if I can make a copy of the final contract, and then she calls back and says, it's not a deal. They changed their mind.
Why? Because now they've discovered it's going to take three months to get building permits to expand the house, so they'd have to pay a double mortgage, even though they could totally live here for those three months, and apparently if our lot was 2500 sf, they wouldn't have to wait. (I don't buy this.) None of this makes sense to me, but now they want us to lower their price or cover their mortgage payments for those three months, or they're going to pull out.
Wouldn't you look into this permit crap before you made an offer on a house that was 23.5 x 100 or am I crazy?
All I know is this week has not been fun.
Poop on a stick.
